SUMMARY:2023 CCUS TEA/LCA Workshop
DESCRIPTION:​We are excited to announce that the Global CO2 Initiative will host the 2023 TEA/LCA Workshop on Harmonizing CCUS Assessments on May 16-18 this year! This fifth workshop in the series is planned and conducted by the International CCUS Assessment Harmonization Group with members from the USA (GCI at U-M\, NETL\, NREL\, ANL)\, Canada (NRC)\, Germany (RIFS\, formerly known as IASS)\, Switzerland (ETH Zürich)\, and Japan (NIAIST). We are looking forward to one-and-a-half days of intense dialog and work that will advance transparent and uniform assessments of CCUS technologies and products. \nThis year’s workshop will focus on the inclusion of social factors in life cycle assessments and techno-economic assessments\, as well as next steps towards guidance through international standardization of assessment guidelines. \nThe workshop will be conducted in-person at the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan\, Ann Arbor. Online participation will be available. \nRegister for in person attendance here.We will host a poster session for student and postdoc presenters to specifically invite them to engage with the assessment community. \nWho should attend?Researchers\, students\, practitioners\, developers and users of LCA and TEA for CCUS and users of assessment outputs. DESCRIPTION:📆 #EVENTSUMMARY This week took place in Copenhagen the European Conference CO2 Capture\, Storage and Reuse 2023. \n🎯 The conference focused on the utilization of captured CO₂ and its application in the production of building materials such as cement\, concrete\, and steel\, as well as the development of advanced fuels to facilitate the decarbonization of various sectors. \n🤝 Bringing together industry stakeholders\, the conference offered unique content\, workshops\, discussions\, and networking opportunities with prominent leaders in the field. \n🎤 Tudy Bernier\, Senior Policy Manager at CO2 Value Europe\, a partner of #SUNERC and a media partner for this event\, took the stage to present the latest EU policy developments around Carbon Capture and Utilisation (#CCU). Bernier also actively participated in a panel discussion focused on global sustainability challenges. \n📊 Over the course of the two-day event\, attendees were presented with comprehensive insights into carbon capture technology through presentations from industry end-users and case studies of ongoing projects.
