SUMMARY:Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress
DESCRIPTION:The Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress will take place from 7 – 9 June 2023 in Amsterdam\, Netherlands. \nSustainable Aviation Futures is a high-level congress establishing the aviation industry’s pathway to net zero\, and a content-rich networking event that will showcase the latest strategies for decarbonisation\, key industry challenges\, and exciting opportunities for airlines\, corporate organisations\, and fuel producers. \nSustainable Aviation Futures Congress has been developed in consultation with leading industry professionals across the aviation industry. The event will feature 120+ expert speakers from throughout the aviation value chain to policymakers and OEMs. This event’s high-level industry content will include panel discussions and keynote presentations covering the A-Z of SAF and aviation decarbonisation. \nOn Friday the 9th of June from 2.30-3.15 pm (CET)\, Benyamin Khoshnevisan\, Assistant Professor at SDU Lifelong Learning – Center for Life Cycle Engineering\, will participate in the panel discussion “Future fuels and the next generation of feedstocks: Where are the next frontiers for SAF production?” to present the TAKE-OFF project. \nThe project enables the development and industrial validation of the complete technology chain from CO2  to SAF. This technology route aims to deliver a highly innovative process that produces SAF at lower costs and higher energy efficiency than other power-to-liquid alternatives. \n\n\n\nPlease find more information about the congress\, speakers\, and registration here.

SUMMARY:Seawater sourcing for renewable hydrogen and chemicals
DESCRIPTION:The “Seawater sourcing for renewable hydrogen and chemicals” will take place on the 8th-9th of June 2023 from lunch to lunch at DG RTD premises in Rue du Champ de Mars in Brussels. \nThe workshop is co-organised by the European Innovation Council\, the European Commission’s DG RTD\, ANEMEL\, the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and the EuroTech Universities Alliance. \nThe aim of this workshop is to discuss the use of seawater for a broad range of applications\, including the production of renewable fuels and chemicals\, mining or energy storage. \nA multidisciplinary group of experts from industry\, academia and policy-makers will discuss innovative desalination methods\, including brines treatment\, as well as direct seawater electrolysis or the use of seawater for co-electrolysis. The experts will draft a white paper presenting the technologies using seawater as a source that should strongly be supported by the European Commission in accordance with the achievement of the EU Green Deal objectives. \nThe workshop will also host a “pitch session” to show-case real-life demonstration projects or technologies in this area. If you would like to participate in the pitch session with your project\, please provide details when pre-registering (see below). \nOur lineup of confirmed speakers includes leaders from governmental organizations\, industry and academia. \nIf you’re interested in attending\, please pre-register using this link: https://tiny.cc/WaterEvent \n\nConfirmed Speakers – Vision & Trends\n\nDr. Jan Mertens (Engie): CirculAir – Synergies between direct air capture and efuel production for water and heat management\nDr. Philippe Schild (European Commission\, DG RTD)\nProf. Joanna Kargul (UWarsaw): SUNERGY Technological Roadmap on renewable fuels and chemicals\n\n  \nConfirmed Speakers – Technological Pathways & Projects\n\nMarie-Laure Thielens (Engie): Industrial Desalination – from potable water to hydrogen economies\nDr. Vincenzo Antonucci (CNR-ITAE): State-of-the-art of direct seawater electrolysis\nDr. Alberto Figoli (CNR-ITM): State-of-the-art of brines exploitation\nDr. Patrik Jones (Imperial College): Opportunities and Challenges for the production of chemicals using seawater-based microbial biotechnology\nDimitri Xevgenos (TU Delft): Circular Desalination and Potential Links with Chemicals and hydrogen production\nProf. Cédric Tard (École Polytechnique): XSeaO2\nProf. Matthew Suss (Technion\, MIT): State-of-the-art of desalination fuel cells
