DESCRIPTION:The Royal Society of Chemistry would like to invite you to attend the latest in our series of Desktop Seminars. This webinar will discuss Artificial Photosynthesis\, and will feature two talks\, followed by discussion and Q&A: \n🎙 Talk: Bioinorganic design approaches for developing molecular catalysts for electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide\nProf. Christopher Chang\, Class of 1942 Chair Professor · University of California\, Berkeley \nAbstract: Changing climate and rising global energy demands motivate the search for new synthetic methods to produce fuels\, food\, medicines\, and materials in a sustainable fashion. We are developing new molecular catalysts for sustainable electrosynthesis that mimic enzyme biocatalysts or heterogeneous materials catalysts\, as well as hybrid catalysts that merge design concepts from molecular\, materials\, and biological catalysts. This presentation will focus on our latest work on creating molecular electrocatalysts for carbon dioxide inspired by bioinorganic systems. \n🎙 Talk: Solar Technologies For Waste-to-Chemical Conversion\nProf. Erwin Reisner\, Professor of Energy and Sustainability ·University of Cambridge \nAbstract: Professor Reisner will present concepts and emerging technologies\, where waste\, water and air are precious resources for a solar-powered circular economy. He will make a case for the use of solar energy to produce sustainable fuels and chemicals for energy storage\, transportation and the chemical industry.
