As outlined in the EU Industry Carbon Management Strategy\, CCUS is essential for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors such as steel\, cement\, power\, and chemicals\, which must significantly reduce emissions to meet climate targets. The EU has set ambitious goals to capture at least 50 million tonnes (Mt) of CO2 annually by 2030\, with targets rising to 280 Mt by 2040 and 450 Mt by 2050.
