SUMMARY:TAKE-OFF Project Final Conference
DESCRIPTION:Join the TAKE-OFF Final Conference on the 11th of December 2024 at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) in Brussels\, where we will explore the final results and future prospects of the TAKE-OFF project and synthetic Sustainable Aviation Fuels (eSAF) production. \nTo reduce GHG emissions in the aviation sector\, the European Commission has set\, through the RefuelEU Aviation Regulation\, binding targets for the supply of synthetic SAF in aviation. It is therefore crucial that the technologies for the production of such fuels are scaled up at an accelerated pace to provide the necessary volumes. \nThe TAKE-OFF project has pioneered an innovative process to convert CO₂ and renewable hydrogen into eSAF using olefins as intermediates. This unique technology offers a cost-effective and energy-efficient solution compared to other power-to-liquid alternatives. By capturing CO₂ from industrial sources or through Direct Air Capture and combining it with renewable hydrogen\, the project demonstrates the successful conversion of CO₂ into light olefins\, which are then upgraded into eSAF. \nThe conference will present the most innovative outcomes of the TAKE-OFF project from a technical viewpoint while highlighting the crucial role of standardisation and certification of eSAF for the future of aviation and the importance of a supportive policy framework for the deployment of eSAF in the aviation fuel mix. \nFurthermore\, the TAKE-OFF final conference will highlight the advancements of key EU-funded projects focused on developing and commercialising eSAF and foster dialogue between policymakers\, fuel producers\, and airlines to ensure a smooth and efficient rollout of eSAF across Europe. \nThis event will be of great interest to aviation professionals\, policymakers\, and sustainability advocates eager to learn how eSAF is key to a sustainable\, safe\, and economically viable future for aviation. \nHave a look at the draft agenda and register here by the 4th of December at the latest. \nFor more information please email Antonio La Mantia at antonio.lamantia@co2value.eu. \nCO2 Value Europe\, as SUNER-C consortium partner and SUNERGY supporter\, is proudly part of the TAKE-OFF consortium as WP6 leader in communication and dissemination. The project plans to develop a next-generation Power-to-SAF process which converts renewable hydrogen and captured CO2 to a class of hydrocarbons called light olefins\, such as ethylene and propylene\, which then need to be subsequently converted into the final jet fuel through further reactions.

SUMMARY:49th Materials Processes Applications Conference
DESCRIPTION:📅 October 6th – 8th 2025📍 Stuttgart\, Germany\nThe intricate interaction between materials\, processes\, and applications is the backbone of innovation and performance optimization. Materials must be carefully selected and designed to meet the specific demands of various applications\, considering factors like strength\, durability\, and thermal resistance. In contrast to their continuum mechanical models\, real materials have a real microstructure with imperfections\, anisotropy\, segregations\, discontinuities\, pores and residual stresses. \nThese result from the respective manufacturing process of the material or component and have a significant influence on the material behavior and structural integrity in safety-critical applications. This dynamic relationship among materials\, processes\, and applications is a key focal point in advancing several sub-fields in mechanical engineering\, with each element influencing the overall success of mechanical engineering endeavors. \n\nMaterials:\n\n\nAt the core of the MPA conferences attention lies the pivotal role of materials\, where they confront a host of complex challenges. While steel in various forms as austenitic or martensitic continues to play a crucial role\, evolving applications necessitate the use of other materials like nickel-based alloys\, titanium and high-strength aluminum. \n\nProcesses:\n\nAt the MPA seminar\, processes are not only understood as manufacturing processes in the classic sense. Instead\, complex load cases are also regarded as processes resulting from the application and having a decisive influence on the structural integrity and life time of components. \n\nApplications:\n\n\nApplications in materials and mechanical engineering vary widely\, each demanding specific attributes from materials and (manufacturing) processes. These requirements include specific strength\, creep resistance\, and the ability to perform in high and low-temperature environments. \n📎 Read more and register here!!\n  \n
