SUMMARY:11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2025
DESCRIPTION:📅 March 18-19\, 2025\nAround the world\, political ambition to accelerate climate action and to transform our energy systems is advancing: we are seeing record growth in sustainable energy sources\, which are projected to surpass coal as the largest source of electricity by the end of 2025. However\, this transition is taking place at very uneven speeds. We need to broaden the momentum to reach all regions of the world. \nCoordinated international action\, innovative approaches and effective financial support are key to achieving the objectives the world has set itself at COP28: tripling renewable energy capacity\, doubling energy efficiency and transitioning away from fossil fuels. With this in mind\, we must come together to share experiences\, showcase solutions\, and build alliances that will empower societies around the globe to a just transition to 1.5 degrees. \nTo this end\, the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action are jointly sponsoring the 11th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue organized by the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE)\, the German Solar Association (BSW)\, the German Energy Agency (dena) and eclareon. \nWith around 40 country delegations and\, in total\, more than 2000 attendees from government\, business\, academia and civil society from over 100 countries in 2024\, the BETD is one of the premier international hubs on the global energy transition\, a forum where challenges can evolve into real-world solutions. In its 11th edition\, the BETD will continue this tradition of providing a platform on global energy transition\, even as it falls into the period of elections in Germany. However\, it’s time to go beyond buzzwords and technology hype. To ensure these solutions are not only scalable but truly sustainable\, we must critically assess our current strategies and future goals. \nThe upcoming event brings together leaders from academia\, industry\, start-ups\, and policy to address the key challenges and opportunities surrounding renewable hydrogen\, fuels\, and chemicals. With a focus on both scalability and sustainability\, we will engage in candid discussions to evaluate where we stand today and where we need to go. \nOver two dynamic days\, participants will dive into specific topics\, from hydrogen production to the carbon economy\, with the aim of defining concrete outcomes and setting achievable milestones.
