The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the world, accounting for almost 30% of total economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to using biofuels, the EU is now switching its focus towardΒ hydrogenΒ andΒ e-FuelsΒ to help decarbonize the passenger and freight transport sectors. Hydrogen is an essential component of the new climate-neutral economy and will play a key role, particularly in the maritime and air transport sectors, where decarbonisation cannot be achieved solely through electrification.
